    Eumenides 267–75: μέγας Ἅιδης εὓθυνος.Geoffrey W. Bakewell - 1997 - Classical Quarterly 47 (1):298-299.
Having withered you while you live I will lead you down so that you may give recompense for the miseries of your slaughtered mother. And if anyone else of mortals has done wrong, committing impiety against god or any stranger or his own parents, you will see him getting his just deserts. For Hades is a great euthunos of mortals below the ground, he oversees all things with his tablet-writing mind.

Communication Breakdown or Ideal Speech Situation: the problem of nurse advocacy.Geoffrey W. Martin - 1998 - Nursing Ethics 5 (2):147-157.
The issue of advocacy has dominated discussion of the ethical dilemmas facing nurses. However, despite this, nurses seem to be no further towards a solution of how they can be effective advocates for patients without compromising their working identity or facing conflicts of loyalty. This article considers some of the problems around advocacy and, by the use of critical incidents written by nurses involved in a diploma module, attempts to highlight where the problem could lie. A communications model is outlined, (...)

The use of water as a medium for altered states of consciousness in early jewish mysticism: A cross-disciplinary analysis.Geoffrey W. Dennis - 2008 - Anthropology of Consciousness 19 (1):84-106.
This article combines the disciplines of textual/linguistic analysis, anthropology, and perceptual psychology to examine selected ancient Jewish mystical texts that claim to describe the praxis for ascents into heaven and encounters with angelic spirits in order to reconstruct the psychosocial context of these literary works. Specifically, the article examines Hekhalot or "Divine Palaces" texts that deal with hydromancy, giving attention to their mythic–symbolic assumptions, their described preparatory and triggering rituals, and their accounts of the ASC (altered states of consciousness) visions (...)

Christian morality: an interdisciplinary framework for thinking about contemporary moral issues.Geoffrey W. Sutton & Brandon Schmidly (eds.) - 2016 - Eugene, Oregon: Pickwick Publications.
Should society care about Christian morality? Are Christians out of touch with complex moral decision-making? Christian Morality: An Interdisciplinary Framework for Thinking about Contemporary Moral Issues provides readers with a framework for identifying and applying Christian moral principles to divisive issues. First, readers learn of the theological and philosophical foundations of Christian ethics. Two additional chapters explain how personal and social factors influence our capacity to think critically and Christianly about morality. Second, readers will learn about forming Christian moral judgments (...)

    Μετοιϰία in the "Supplices" of Aeschylus.Geoffrey W. Bakewell - 1997 - Classical Antiquity 16 (2):209-228.
In Aeschylus' "Supplices" the Danaids flee their cousins and take refuge at Argos. Scholars have noted similarities between the Argos of the play and contemporary Athens. Yet one such correspondence has generally been overlooked: the Danaids are awarded sanctuary in terms reflecting mid fifth-century Athenian μετοιϰία, a process providing for the partial incorporation of non-citizens into polis life. Danaus and his daughters are of Argive ancestry and take up residence within the city, yet do not become citizens. Instead, they receive (...)

The Eagle Portent in the Agamemnon an Ornithological Footnote.W. Geoffrey Arnott - 1979 - Classical Quarterly 29 (01):7-.
Professor Martin West's paper, titled ‘The Parodos of the Agamemnon’’, argues with characteristic learning and insight that Archilochus’’ fable of the fox and the eagle was a major source for Aeschylus’’ description of the portent of the eagles and the pregnant hare in the parodos of the Agamemnon . The portent is vividly described by the chorus: two eagles, one black and one white behind feed upon a pregnant hare. Poetry is not real life, and Aeschylus’’ picture is not a (...)

    Subcellular localization and trafficking of the GLUT4 glucose transporter isoform in insulin‐responsive cells.Geoffrey D. Holman & Samuel W. Cushman - 1994 - Bioessays 16 (10):753-759.
The rate‐limiting step in the uptake and metabolism of Dglucose by insulin target cells is thought to be glucose transport mediated by glucose transporters (primarily the GLUT4 isoform) localized to the plasma membrane. However, subcellular fractionation, photolabelling and immunocytochemical studies have shown that the pool of GLUT4 present in the plasma membrane is only one of many subcellular pools of this protein. GLUT4 has been found in occluded vesicles at the plasma membrane, clathrin‐coated pits and vesicles, early endosomes, and tubulo‐vesicular (...)

Some Textual Reassessments in the Teubner Menander.W. Geoffrey Arnott - 1968 - Classical Quarterly 18 (02):224-.
Sixty years have now passed since Lefebvre first published the Cairo papyrus of Menander , and Körte's still authoritative third Teubner edition appeared almost exactly halfway between then and now. It laid the coping-stone on the labours of many scholars, of whom four rose head and shoulders above the crowd.

  46. Is astrology relevant to consciousness and psi?Geoffrey O. Dean & Ivan W. Kelly - 2003 - Journal of Consciousness Studies 10 (6-7):175-198.
Abstract: Many astrologers attribute a successful birth-chart reading to what they call intuition or psychic ability, where the birth chart acts like a crystal ball. As in shamanism, they relate consciousness to a transcendent reality that,if true, might require are-assessment of present biological theories of consciousness. In Western countries roughly 1 person in 10,000 is practising or seriously studying astrology, so their total number is substantial. Many tests of astrologers have been made since the 1950s but only recently has a coherent review been (...)
